Grace Fae and the Grandbirds

She sings!

Grace Fae and the Grandbirds is a vintage jazz band based in Los Angeles, specializing in swinging songs from the 1920s- 1940s, with some French and Spanish tunes.  Grace is a versatile vocalist with the warm resonance of Peggy Lee, classical training, and an improvisational style like Ella Fitzgerald. The Grandbirds can perform primarily 1920s tunes for a Gatsby party, 1940s for a WW2 themed event, mid- tempo swing dance tunes perfect for dancers, late night contemporary jazz. and even have an entire set of classic vintage love tunes, customized for weddings and engagement parties.  We also have a unique set of classic holiday jazz tunes.

The Grandbirds include some of the most seasoned & exciting jazz instrumentalists in Los Angeles, including Tsugumi Shikano or Satoshi Kirisawa on drums, virtuoso Ian Solomon or Leslie Baker on upright bass, the incredible Wayne Wilentz or Brad Bietry on piano, and some of the best saxophone, clarinet and trumpet players in town, like Myles Davis or Corey Gemme.  Grace sings classic tunes by Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Irving Berlin, the Gershwin brothers, and Fats Waller in new and energizing arrangements.

Grace sings this classic jazz tune from 1930 at the Art Fest in Santa Fe Springs, in May of 2022 with Bobby Barron on drums, Jon Hatton on upright bass and Jim Jedeikin on saxophone. 

AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'

Grace Fae & the Grandbirds perform this great melody Ain't Misbehavin'  from 1929 at Crown City Dance in Pasadena, CA in July 2023. Featuring Satoshi Kirisawa on drums, AJ Polidoro on upright bass, and David Edelstein on the keys. 

I CAN't GIVE YOU ANYTHING but love, BABY

Grace Fae & the Grandbirds perform I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Baby at the Arizona Biltmore in July 2019. The tune's from 1928, by Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields who overheard a fella say this to his gal outside Tiffany's in New York, and wrote the song that day!  Band members are Ken Park (drums), Leslie Baker (upright bass), Chris Glik (piano), Michael Mull (saxophone), Joe Leyva (trumpet), Mark Witt (trombone), and Grace Fae on vocals.

CHEEK TO CHEEK

Here's an upbeat version of Irving Berlin's Cheek to Cheek, written in 1935, and performed here on May 29th, 2019 at Rusty's Rhythm Club in Playa Del Rey.  Bobby Barron (drums), Adam Levy (upright bass), Chris Glik (keys), Jim Jedeikin (saxophone).  Videography by Jimmy McCammon.

Don't Get Around Much Anymore

Here's a lovely lil tune Don't Get Around Much Anymore, written by Duke Ellington in 1940, and performed with the Swing Thing Band at Joe's Great American Bar & Grill on June 11th, 2019.  Bobby Barron (drums), Leslie Baker (upright bass), Chris Glik (keys) and Corey Gemme (trumpet).  Videography by Jimmy McCammon.
